STATUS OF THE ISDRA RECREATION AREA MANAGEMENT PLAN (RAMP)

Unfortunately, we are still in a holding pattern waiting for the new RAMP. Recently BLM issued an implementation timeline, but later recanted as the dates were released prematurely.

For those of you who are new to the dunes, the BLM has prepared this RAMP to provide direction that will guide future management actions for BLM administered lands within the Planning Area and to analyze the environmental effects resulting from implementing the alternatives addressed in the document.

The main issue is the possible re-opening of all or most of the 49,000 acres that were temporarily closed as part of a lawsuit settlement pending the new RAMP.

The ASA is staying on top of this issue and will inform our membership as soon as more information becomes available.

Sand Sports Super Show

Highlights from the Sand Sports Super Show

We always look forward to participating in the Sand Sports Super Show (SSSS) in September as it signals the long anticipated start of the duning season. This year’s show was better than ever and did not disappoint.  The ASA is proud to be a part of the biggest show of its kind in the world.

And the Winner Is……

The future got a little brighter for John Stevenson III from Scottsdale, Arizona.  John is the proud new owner of the ASA’s Monster / Buckshot Racing raffle car.  As an avid duner, John said that he’ll put his new car to a lot of use and couldn’t be happier!  Friends of Stevenson said that the win is much deserved as he is the kind of guy who is always picking up trash at the top of a dune when everyone else is taking a break.  We look forward to seeing that beautiful Buckshot car in the dunes!  Congratulations!
